POSITION TITLE:  Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Teacher

REPORTS TO:  MTSS Coordinator-Student Services

POSITION SUMMARY:  Assists teachers in addressing student learning using the MTSS Framework, provides guidance with strategies, tools, and techniques to effectively teach all students. Funding for this position is reimbursed by Special School District.

 

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Essential Functions

  1. Assist teachers in addressing student learning using the MTSS framework.
  2. Provide guidance on strategies, tools, and techniques to effectively teach all students.
  3. Assists the teacher in identifying individual students needs in academic, behavioral and social-emotional learning (SEL).
  4. Assist teachers in understanding screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identification of struggling learners.
  5. Assist teachers in developing necessary and appropriate data for the Student Support Team (SST) meetings.
  6. Assist teachers and/or model instructional and intervention strategies.
  7. Models research-based strategies and techniques to support students individually and small groups of students.
  8. Assist teachers in understanding data in response to interventions.
  9. Assist/model documenting and maintaining intervention plans.
  10. Assist teachers in progress monitoring data and understanding how students are responding to interventions.
  11. Guide teachers in how to make necessary adjustments to interventions driven by data.
  12. Guide teachers with family communication regarding student progress and help provide strategies families can use at home.
  13. Collaborate with the behavior specialists to integrate intervention plans and regulate student behaviors.
  14. Identify best practices regarding teaching, instruction and assessment in MTSS.
  15. Assists/Models for teachers in building an interactive classroom environment focused on the content and learning strategies embedded in the State Standards while meeting the needs of all students.
  16. Attends all professional development and district-level MTSS meetings.
  17. Develops and maintains a positive rapport with staff.
  18. Maintains professional competence through professional reading and attending appropriate workshops, courses, and conferences in keeping with the needs of students and in accordance with district guidelines.
  19. Maintains regular attendance.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of/Experience with:

1.Middle School/High School experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities: These skills may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  1. A Multi-Tiered System of Support model and implementation of a MTSS model in the classroom.
  2. Interventions to support the instructional needs of all students.

 

Education:

  1. BS/BA Degree in Education.
  2. Two years teaching experience or related experience in the field of education.
  3. Valid State Teaching license
  4. Knowledge of the MTSS model.
  5. Experience implementing MTSS.
  6. Special Education Degree preferred

Personal computer and related software, typewriter, calculator, fax machine, photocopier.

 

 

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

 

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.       

 

  1. Sitting, walking, standing, talking, hearing, stooping or crouching to access file drawers.
  2. Normal mental attention with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more required.
  3. Nominal physical effort required ranging from moving very light (1 to 5 lbs.) items by hand to rarely moving light to average (5 to 60 lbs.) boxes of paper and other supplies with assistanc. Normal office and classroom conditions.
