The Support Staff Recruitment Fair will be hosted Tuesday, June 25,2024 from 1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. In the Galactic Multipurpose room 15955 New Halls Ferry Rd. Florissant, MO 63031.

 

Pre-registration begins Thursday, March 21, 2024 and ends on Monday June 24 , 2024. Registration is complete once your application is successfully submitted!

 

 

SAFETY MONITOR-(District Wide Middle & High School)

 

Reports To: School Safety Department

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor students in the halls throughout the school day.
• Develop positive relationships with students and staff.
• Patrol halls, corridors, stairwells, and restrooms for the purpose of reporting violations of school policies, procedures or behavioral expectations and district policies.
• Alert administrators and security to areas of safety concern, insecure and hazardous situations.
• Report any actions taken by students to initiate a confrontation, disruption or disturbance.
• Assist in building relationships with students to create a positive school culture.
• Maintains communication via portable radios with the school office and security officers.
• Intercede and report all student arguments and confrontations to security and administrators.
• Monitor students during passing time, arrival and dismissal time.
• Escort specific students to needed areas such as office, guidance, and/or to class as needed.
• Inspects restrooms to ensure students are not loitering or damaging facilities. (Assistance will be requested for person of the opposite sex restroom inspections.).
• Verify the authenticity or possession of hall passes and report students to the school office
where administrators can take appropriate action.
• Report students to the school office or contact security when they are found wandering in the halls.
• Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to defuse confrontational situations.
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgment in dealing with students, faculty and parents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of children.
  • Ability to properly analyze situations and adopt effective course(s) of action.
  • Posses maturity and ability to understand appropriate interactions with others.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.


WORKING CONDITIONS/MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to communicate, reason, understand verbal instructions, coordinate, and maintain emotional control under stress.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

In order to perform this job successfully an individual must meet the physical requirements necessary to complete the essential job duties. 

  • Require the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend, climb stairs, ramps, hear, speak, and work with extreme noise.
  • Require mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
  • Require the ability to stand for long periods.
  • Require the ability to walk long distances. 
  • Perform work which involves the frequent lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects of moderate weight (15-75 pounds).

 

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT

The period of employment is the school term or nine and one-half (9.5) months annually.

 

 

 

 

JOB TITLE:  SCHOOL SAFETY OFFICER

REPORTS TO:  DIRECTOR OF SCHOOL SAFETY AND/OR LEAD SAFETY OFFICER

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES ARE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Responsible for varied security/officer tasks including patrol of campuses before, during and after school hours  
  • Write detailed incident reports involving district property and staff or students while on district property when necessary
  • Screen persons entering school grounds to ensure they are properly authorized and report presence of unauthorized persons
  • Maintain alertness for problems likely to disrupt the educational process or to be injurious to persons or property
  • Correct or report conditions hazardous to the health and safety of pupils, the public and staff
  • Establish positive working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, pupils and the community
  • Able to adjust schedule to accommodate various district activities and assignments
  • Perform traffic and pedestrian safety duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of School Safety or lead officer(s)

 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Candidate must possess a current and valid state issued driver’s license, a general or technical high school diploma or GED, a current Metropolitan St. Louis County Security Officer License.  Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age


EXPERIENCE

 

Previous school security experience is preferred.
