JOB SUMMARY: 

The Title I Part-Time Hazelwood Heroes Family Literacy Facilitator will work directly with families and volunteers to coordinate supplemental Hazelwood Hero Readers support for students.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Facilitate student achievement.  
  • Conducts outreach to increase family and volunteer engagement in the Hazelwood Hero Readers program
  • Leads group and individual sessions during the school day and in the evenings to ensure Hazelwood Hero Reader families and volunteers gain a strong understanding of instructional strategies that promote student literacy
  • Coordinates with families, volunteers, and school staff to eliminate barriers so that selected elementary students receive supplemental support
  • Coaches families and volunteers to plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Ensures families and volunteers have access to needed literacy supplies

2.Monitors student achievement.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Visits schools and provides support to Hazelwood Hero families and volunteers
  • Adjusts group and individual coaching sessions in response to student needs
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

 

  1. Perform other duties as assigned or required.

  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Attends daytime, evening, and weekend meetings and outreach events as required

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                                                                                 

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:  Education – Bachelor’s degree and a Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification.     

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:  Broad knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment; Extensive knowledge of Missouri Learning Standards; Knowledge of various instructional delivery models; Knowledge of research-based and evidence-based instructional strategies.  

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Requires teaching and instructional coaching experience; Requires evidence of improving student achievement; Training and practical experience in instructional management, effective teaching models, curriculum development, implementation and evaluation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit,  talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel,  crouch, and to lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required included close vision, distance  vision, the ability to adjust and focus, and depth perception. Specific hearing abilities required  include normal conversation, phone conversation, and isolating voices in multiple conversations.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:  

Works in a classroom environment a majority of the time and is required to work outdoors for a  small portion of the day.  

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS/ MATERIALS USED:  

Computer, copier, scanner, projector, telephone, calculator. 

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: None 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time employment paid via Time & Effort documentation according to the Board-approved Extra Duty Schedule (General Extra Duty- $25 per hour) with an average of 5-10 hours per week. The Title I Part-Time Hazelwood Heroes Family Literacy Facilitator is paid for 100% by Title I funds. Should funds no longer be available, or the district plan changes, the position may be eliminated to meet the needs of the district.
